| Hello my name is Brenda,
I got started in graphite drawing through a
challenge from my husband. The reason for the challenge was to help me
overcome the intense grief of the death of my beloved Father.
The thought was, since it was something I had
never done, it would take concentration. The other key thought was it
would be a way to express my emotions. This is evident in some of the
work that I have done. What is also evident is that I have grown as a
person and an artist. What great therapy this was and continues to be.
I greatly enjoy how natural the medium of graphite
is. My graphite drawings are the result of applying pencil to paper. How
rewarding when I see plain white paper come to life from the application
of my pencil. No smells, no clutter, just simply paper, pencil and me.
Being a self taught artist means I watch for
improvements each time I draw. It is thrilling to learn as I draw, this
keeps the experience both exciting and intriguing. My method always
starts with the eyes or center of focus. This helps me to keep things in
the perspective necessary for balance and realism. Eyes are the greatest
inspiration for me. I love finding the emotion and character that is
hidden in them and bringing it out for viewers to enjoy.
It is the result of many compliments and
propositions for commissions that I have decided to put my art up on the
net and make it available to everyone. How exciting to think of all the
places that my artwork is hanging, some has even traveled to places I
have never seen. What great joy to know that people all over the world
are enjoying something I drew.
Special thanks to my Husband for his encouragement and
faith in my artistic abilities.
It is my desire that you enjoy looking as much as
I enjoyed drawing, if you have questions or feedback feel free to reach
